Hi, I Cut My Fingertip With A Knife While Cooking
Question: Hi, I cut my fingertip with a knife while cooking nearly 6 weeks ago. I went to the emergency room and got 3 dissolvable stitches. I thought I was tkaing good care of the wound, by keeping it dry, but it ended up get very very dry to the point that the area surround original cut, and around the stitches started getting hard almost like a callus. Only 1 of the 3 stitches dissolved, while the other two remained. Then I stated to notice the skin around the entry points of the remaining stitches start to crack. It also started to small a little like stinky feet in the past week.
Fast forward to today, the remaining two stitches fell out, but they stayed intact like a big loop under my skin. All the skin that the stitches were holding together fell out like a big chunk of dead skin, and now the tip of my finger has a big divot in it. The skin that's there is vender tender, but not painful.
What should I do to help it heal at this point? I have a Band-aid on there with Neosporin.
