I Woke Up With Half Of My Bottom Lip Extremely

Posted on Thu, 6 Jun 2019
Question: I woke up with half of my bottom lip extremely swollen. I had been asleep on that side of my face. There only seems to be one very tiny red dot on the inside of my lip. Hard to tell what it is, if anything. Do I have a spider bite or something else? It doesn’t hurt but it feels numb.

Brief Answer:
Probably an allergic reaction due to an insect bite.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I already reviewed the attached report.

Your symptoms seem to be related to an allergic reaction due to an insect bite.

I suggest to use antihistamines daily such as Cetirizine 10 mg daily in the morning.

I also recommend to use cool compresses in the area.

If you feel difficulties in breathing you should go in the emergency room.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
