I’m 16F And Weigh About 115 Pounds. I’m 5’4 On
**Medications:**
- adderall IR 20mg twice a day as needed for my narcolepsy symptoms and slight ADHD symptoms.
- Desvenlafaxine 25 mg ER tablet once a day for fibromyalgia, chronic migraines, and depression.
- Simpesse 90 day birth control for horrible, heavy periods.
- Glycoperrolate 1mg as needed for Hyperhidrosis.
- I also rarely take vitamins such as vitamin D, B, and C, as well as fiber or potassium.
**Things I’ve had done:**
- two CT scans
- two MRIs and one of them with contrast
- chest x-ray and EKG for chest tightness - apparently it’s just anxiety
- many different blood scans such as: vitamin D deficiency, ANA, A1C test, CBC, CRP, CMP, BMP, magnesium level, thyroid test, and generally ever blood test you can imagine.
- blood pressure/oxygen levels
- been to a child neurologist
- been to physical therapy
*EVERYTHING* is normal.
**What I’m worried about:**
I obviously want to just go to the doctors again, but my parents are so tired of taking me to them. We go about 6-10 times a year. For me :( In all honesty I want a diagnosis that helps me understand my symptoms. It feels like I got diagnosed with fibromyalgia because the three doctors working with me just couldn’t figure it out so they just slapped *fibromyalgia* on me and let it be.
**My symptoms:**
- I get bad **head rushes, convulsions** I get head rushes maybe 5-10 times per day on bad weeks/months. About 2 of those are really bad and my entire body is taken over by muscle spasms. It looks like I'm having a seizure and I'm barely able to keep standing. I have only passed out twice from it, but because it happens so often, it has me worried.
- **POTS** symptoms. They seem to have started maybe 3 years ago? But were rare. They got worse last year and then let up a little bit but have started getting worse again this past month. My heart rate after 60 seconds of standing is 140 ish and after 2 minutes it stays around 150/160. It slowly starts to go down. For me, walking is so much better than just standing, I don't know why. My doctor
-Can’t forget about **chronic migraines** I’ve had headaches/migraines for pretty much my whole life but they didn’t ever happen too often. The last 3/4 years they increased and I’d have a bad migraine 3-5 times a month. About 2 years ago it increased again and I’d have 3-5 bad ones a month and 4-6 “headaches” which were less severe. A year ago I started having migraines every day. They’d last anywhere from 30 minutes to 10 hours. Most were 1-3 hours. The pain severity was usually a 3/4 but when it spiked in pain it would be 6-8. The reason I got “diagnosed” with chronic migraine instead of headache is my severe sensitivity to light and partial sensitivity to sound. Desvenlafaxine helps with the headaches and now I only get about 2/3 bad ones or migraines a month and maybe 4/5 normal headaches.
- I also have **fibromyalgia** The fibromyalgia is mainly bad muscle soreness, bad neck and back pain, possibly includes chronic migraines, and generalized fatigue. It kind of comes and goes but when it’s here, it’s here for a while. My last “flare” I guess was from January 2020 to September 2020. It makes me incredibly weak and even going up one flight of stairs would make my legs want to fall off because of the pain. If I slept more than 8 hours I’d wake up with horrible back pain. I’m on desvenlafaxine which really helps that. I had a XXXXXXX flare up about two months ago that lasted two weeks and then went away.
- I have **severe senses sensitivity** too. For light this started when I was born, I’ve always been sensitive to bright lights and the sun. Definitely worse with a headache/migraine though. Smell started about 11 months ago? Random smells would make me incredibly nauseous. Also worse with headaches, but still always there. It got better around September but I still have it. Sound is next. I’ve always had it with headaches but around a year ago it’s now constant. Taste and touch was a really bad 4 month period where I wouldn’t even want to wear clothes. It was in the summer of last year and has, for the most part, gone away. Still have some remnants of it though.
- Another thing is my super **bad periods** They last about 8-11 days, super heavy, I gain weight because I’m literally *starving* and I also have much worse migraines those days. Oh and horrible cramps and back pain.
- I had super bad **narcolepsy symptoms** (as in falling asleep about 5-10 times PER class at school, when I try to nap I immediately would enter rem, I could sleep for 14 hours and still be tired) but I’m on adderall now so that helps. My doctor says it shouldn’t be classified with fibromyalgia because it’s so similar to narcolepsy. It started around the end of September when I started desvenlafaxine. It’s not a side effect though and I went off of it to see if I’d go back to normal. I didn’t.
**Overall**
I have no “official” diagnosis’s besides the ADHD (to get on the adderall) Why is this? My mom won’t let me because she thinks it’ll be harder to get health insurance and life insurance when I’m older. My doctor is of course aware of all these mini-diagnosis’s.
I’m just tired of having so many random medical problems that no doctor can seem to connect. I’ve been to maybe 7 different doctors total. Maybe they’re really all separate but I seem to think at least some of them can be under one diagnosis?
Different symptoms are explained below.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The symptoms such as headache and sensitivity to light are related to migraine.
I recommend to use painkillers such as Ibuprofen to relieve the pain. You can also use specific medications such as Triptans which are taken on prescription.
The muscle pain can be caused by anxiety. Anxiety causes muscle contraction and muscle pain.
Fibromyalgia can not be excluded though.
I suggest to use magnesium supplements which help in muscle relaxation.
As per the heavy periods, there are many causes related to this condition.
It is necessary to see a gynecologist and get some examinations done to determine the cause and take proper treatment.
I also recommend to have a healthy lifestyle, eat healthy, relax, and exercise daily.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Kind regards!
