Brief Answer:
Sensation of spinning movement, several causes.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to HealthcareMagic! My name is Olsi Taka, I am a medical doctor specialized in Neurology.

Vertigo is a symptom, it is not a disease in itself. It means a sensation of movement, typically in the form of spinning of the surrounding environment around you or of you yourself (of course in the absence of real movement).

As I said it is a manifestation not a condition and it can have different causes. The most common cause by far is issues affecting inner ear which is an organ involved in balance. However less commonly it can be related to a nerve inflammation, a stroke, a tumor etc.

So to speak of treatment it should be clarified what cause does your doctor think is at the origin of vertigo. Regarding treatment directed only to the symptoms, to alleviate the vertigo sensation usually antihistamines group of drugs are used, such as meclizine.

I remain at your disposal for further questions.
