Brief Answer:
Monitor only for now!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this repeated vomiting your wife has. With no other symptoms, this is probably benign and may be related to food poisoning. This may not sound typical as you are symptoms free though having eaten the same food. However, not everybody who eats contaminated food would develop symptoms. I will say let her drink much water to replace the fluids loss. If it is impossible to keep anything down, then she would need to visit the hospital for fluids to be admitted intravenously.

I hope this helps. I wish your wife a speedy recovery. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be. Above all, thanks for using our services.

Dr. Ditah:

Thank you for your recommendations. My wife is feeling better and has not vomited in the last three hours. At your suggestion, she has been drinking water (1 - 2 quarts so far), and about 30 minutes ago she consumed 8oz. of chicken broth along with a couple of saltine crackers with no ill effects so far.

My reason for contacting you now is to ask you what pain reliever she should take to rid herself of a headache she's experiencing.

Thanks,

Brief Answer:
Tylenol!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

II recommend tylenol at a dose of 1000mg at most every 6hours(4times in a day). Happy to know she’s doing fine. Let me know if you need any additional help.

Until next, I wish her well.

Dr. Ditah:

My wife is feeling much better now (90%) but we did want to follow-up:
Our pharmacist also recommended Tylenol - which did relieve her head ache & she only needed one dose. The pharmacist also recommended the BRAT diet til her digestive system settled down. We since have researched that diet to find that the BRATTY diet is the alternative these days. Which we followed til yesterday. This am we've incorporated a bit into the CRAM diet (Grapenuts, peaches & cashew milk/decaf with fat-free half n half) since she has been feeling much better. FYI - no diarrhea at all at this point. Does this seems to be the right course of action? And when would it be prudent for my wife to follow a more "normal" diet.
Also, my wife has experienced GERD for the past 30 or more years - could this have contributed to the issues she experienced on Sat AM? It has been bothering her in the past couple months with alot of undue stress with work & life. She has been seeing an ENT MD with throat/vocal cord issues & RX changes were made from Prilosec to generic Protonix in the AM (Zegrid remains the same in PM) to see if this would help along with an antibiotic (which really didn't help the throat issues) She does have an appointment with a Gastroenterologist on 3/24 to see how he can help control the GERD.
With all this background - in your opinion - can she return to a normal diet soon?

Brief Answer:
Right away, Yes!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

She can return to normal diet right away. The BRAT diet was only during the diarrhea period and needs no special transition.

Her vocal cord and throat issues are all related to the GERD. A gastroenterologist is very important at this time to get this under control. Let me know how this plays out.

My regards to your lovely WIFE.
