Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that there is not a specified percentage of risk related to physical activity in patients affected from coronary artery disease.

It is true that physical exertion increases the heart need for blood supply. When coronary arteries are normal, they supply the cardiac muscle with high efficiency.
But in the case of coronary artery disease, the arteries are narrow and can not supply the cardiac muscle with the necessary blood flow, thus leading to cardiac ischemia or myocardial infarction.

A way to evaluate the physical activity which a coronary patient is able (allowed) to perform is the cardiac stress test.

That is why I would recommend performing a cardiac stress test and a cardiac ultrasound to examine your heart function and structure.

If there is evidence of important coronary artery disease, a coronary angiogram would be needed to evaluate exactly the blood flow in each coronary arteries and evaluate the need for revascularization (with stents or coronary bypass).

Hope to have been helpful!

Feel free to ask me again whenever you need!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
