Brief Answer:
Could be partial tear in shoulder muscle.

Detailed Answer:
Hi I am Dr Gopal Goel Orthopedic surgeon.
With available history I think that probably you have injured your arm and shoulder muscles during hammering process, which has resulted in partial tear in one of the muscles causing current soreness and red patch.
I recommend Ice packs , pain killers and slow active movement of shoulder joint. If you feel no improvement in next 5-7 days , consult an orthopedic surgeon.
Note: For further queries, consult a joint and bone specialist, an Orthopaedic surgeon. Book a Call now.
