What Causes Fasting Blood Sugar Level 124 During Pregnancy?
Question: Hi actually I m 36 w 4 days pregnant today.doc gv me two shots of betnisol injection 12 mg 24 hrs apart on mon and tue as I am hvn anterior placenta only 30 mm away from cervix.today I did my blood sugar fasting test and it came out to be 124. Previously till nw it Ws nvr above 90.plz help me I m too worried for my baby n his well being.dun knw Wat hpnd with sugar levels so abruptly. Are these levels dangerous

As you are already 36 weeks + 4 days, so by now the lung maturity of the foetus would have already been achieved, which ideally occurs by 34 weeks , but considering that your sugar levels have been recently diagnosed to be 124mg/dl fasting, this makes you gestational diabetic and in such case the lung maturation is delayed by a 2 weeks and hence to be on a safer side the doctor gave you antenatal corticosteroids for foetal lung maturation.
You are nearing term now , and hence should be ideally placed on medical nutrition therapy and concomitant insulin therapy for control of sugars as you are in third trimester, after due calculation to keep your sugar levels under control. The complications of GDM are usually large babies, shoulder dystocia and often hypoglycaemia in delivered children , so aim is to keep the sugar levels under check.

Regarding foetal movement, if the movements are minimum 10 during the day then they are normal, anytime they are less than that you should be reporting to your obstetrician. Betnesol is no way linked to decreased foetal movements.

Yesterday I went to the endo n he did my random sugar test at 5 pm n it came out to be 93.he told me to repeat the same on Sunday with both bsf and random.my other concern z dat I m 36 w 6 days today and although I m feeln ten movements in a day but dey r not so strong.they are on a lighter side with baby makn lighter movements.plz tel me if I shud go n hv an ultrasound done and chck d well being or is it normal to observe lighter movements in 37th week of pregnancy. Really concerned n waitn for ur reply

The RBS being 93 is normal and that rules out gestational diabetes. But the minimum movements in a day should be around 10 per day, so anytime you feel that the movements are less then report to your obstetrician.
Please get a NON STRESS TEST done to check for foetal well being. This should give an idea for next 3 days.
