What Causes Headache, Runny Nose, Sore Throat And Stiff Neck?
Question: My daughter 19 yrs. has: headache, runny nose, light fever, sore throat but not scratchy, stiff neck which hurts to move side to side. Any idea?

Started with some symptoms yesterday, sore throat.
Neck stiffness early this morning.
Very tired.
A little light headed when getting into the shower, but no disorientation.
Low appetite.

As per your description I would make a provisional diagnosis of viral infection(viral meningitis) of the brain.This is probably in the early stage of infection.
I would ask for CSF analysis and start on empirical antibiotics(cephalosporins). Suggest to consult a physician as early as possible for further examination, evaluation and detailed work up.
