What Causes Persistent External Vaginal Itching And Yellow Vaginal Discharge?

default
Posted on Wed, 2 Mar 2016
Question: Having external vaginal itching for weeks. Not so much on the inner area, but close. Sometimes I have yellowish discharge but not always. Have treated with 3day yeast treatment but no help. Also the topical cream only makes the itching stop for maybe 20 minutes. I have no foul odor at all. Just the itching and sometimes clear and sometimes yellow discharge (not thick, more mucous like). Please help!!

Detailed Answer:
Hi, Dr Purushottam Neurgaonkar here. I welcome you to HCM VIRTUAL CLINIC. I have gone through your question, and I think I have understood your concern. I will suggest you the best possible treatment options.

From Your history, I could not find your age or marital status or any other medical history. Anyway, please do not panic.

I will suggest you to get blood sugar levels, fasting and post meal, and hemogram and urine routine examination.

Please start using cotton inner garments. Start Lactacyd vaginal wash alternate days, while having bath. Keep private parts clean and dry, every time you visit the wash rooms.

If you are sexualy active, Then both of you need to take the treatment at the same time. Medication kits with combination of anti fungal , antibiotics and anti amoebic is advisable, of course you will need the prescription for the same. I will also suggest to use condom while having sex till the symptoms subside, this will help to prevent cross infection.
Use of probitic such as Vibact DS or the likes once a day for ten days will be of help. Topical ointment containing mild steroids , antibacterial and anti fungal agents, can be used as needed. Also, if itching is unbearable use of Tab. Cetzine Can be taken once a day, if needed.

I hope this answer helps you.
Thanks
Dr Purushottam Neurgaonkar.
