Brief Answer:
Vitamin D deficiency - to be corrected with supplements...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I went through the reports with diligence. The reports of Mr XXXXXXX revealed few abnormalities and the most significant one was vitamin D deficient state. It is not surprising. Most Indians have vitamin D deficiency. This could be the result of poor nutrition and lack of sun exposure.

I will suggest to start vitamin D supplements to correct this deficiency. Vitamin D XXXXXXX available as D rise XXXXXXX 60000 IU should be taken once a week for 6 weeks. This could be followed by 4000 IU tablets every day for another 4 weeks. Vitamin D levels can be repeated after 3-4 months after correction.

Besides vitamin D deficiency, it also reveals slightly elevated homocysteine levels. It should be treated with folic acid pills.

Other abnormalities noted were high cholesterol values and some abnormalities in hemogram. I will not consider both these abnormalities significant. At this point they need not attention.

Discuss my suggestions with your treating doctor and start treatment.

Thanks for going through the report and suggestions Dr. XXXXXXX

I noticed that Vitamin B12 is also on lower side. Do you think I should take supplements for that as well or as of now it is not required?

Brief Answer:
If you are asymptomatic, no need to use vit b12

Detailed Answer:
Vitamin B12 is still under limits. And if you don't have any symptoms of vitamin b12 deficiency, I don't think you need vitamin b12 supplements. That being said, if you are concerned, there is no harm in taking b12 supplements for few weeks. You can start meganeurone capsules once a day for 6 weeks.

Hope this helps.
