What Does My Ultrasound Scan Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Fri, 3 Mar 2017
Question: Hello,
I have a rolling movement that occurs mostly at night when I roll to either side. It is always on my left side, usually starts below my ribcage. It's almost best described like when I was 8 months pregnant and the baby would move around, only this is on my left side. When I get up in the morning, it will have the movement again until it settles.
When I'm on my side, it sometimes settles on the side of my ribcage/toward the back, and it may start giving me a dull ache, so I roll over to my back and it goes away. This has been going on for a little over 2 months, and I get strange looks from my doctor and nurse. But it is real.
I still am active. It doesn't interfere with my tennis or golf or aerobics. But I was always a side sleeper, now I can't roll over.
I had an Ultrasound and they found nothing.
Has anyone ever heard of this before?
Thanks,
XXXXX

Brief Answer:
No medical literature supports such a finding

Detailed Answer:
Hi there

Thanks for the query

This could be a preference, since you just been rolling to the left side during pregnancy as well.

I don't think you have anything to be worried about. You could accept this as an interesting mystery and not anything dangerous.

There are no studies or cases reported in the medical literature for the same. It's never been reported as a problem or disease.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

I think you misunderstood what I said. First of all, I was describing in the best way I knew how what the movement felt like. So I said it was like when a baby moves within the womb. Every single woman that have been pregnant has this. Any woman would know what I am talking about. This may have mislead you thinking I had something like this when I was pregnant. NO! It was a description of the movement I get on my left side.

Thanks for your time,

Brief Answer:
Bowel movements

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

I humbly apologize if I'd hurt your feelings there,

It is possible that you are experiencing bowel movements such can have a similar feeling to a movement felt like fitting pregnancy.

Not to worry about that. Eat a healthy diet rich in roughage to prevent constipation. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables.

Drink at least 2 liters of water daily to keep well hydrated.

It would be helpful to consult with a Psychiatrist to understand if this could fit into a certain group of Functional disorders which have effective medication for treatment in that aspect (please don't get me wrong here as it's actually another differential diagnosis in this regard).

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

I am NOT having bowel movements. I am regular and I do eat well. This is on my side in the middle of my ribs, it can settle in my back.
Obviously, you can't figure this out and are grasping. I do know my body and I am in good physical and mental health.
This started 2 1/2 months ago out of the blue. Maybe it would be helpful for you to consult with other doctors as one of them may have heard of this.
In searching on the Web, I saw there were others that had this and were perplexed. But could not get an answer either from doctors. By the way, they were mostly women that experienced this.
