Please review my email history before, my wife has done her urine routine examination today and the results are as follows.

My wife is also having throat pain since today morning but no other symptoms.

Her UTI is well controled now .

Thanks for query .

I have gone through our previous discussion on her problems and report that you have posted today .

The number of pus cells detected in urine has come down to almost near normal levels suggest that her UTI is well controlled with antibiotics .

The presence of yeast cells is common finding in females

The throat pain may be due to viral infection and can be managed symptomatically .with Pacetamol and gargles with warm salt water

Dear Dr,

But the current report of today says bacteria detected, and pus cell 5-7, and epithelial cells 15-20.

She has only taken zinnat 500 around 3 weeks before and after that she has not taken any medication.

We have done the culture again today, as last time culture was negative.

We will get the report of urine culture in 72 hrs.

Does she need to take any antibiotics again.

Thanks for follow up .Presence of 5-7 pus cells is not significant .

Epithelial cells in urine is routine findings whenever there is UTI and it represents shedding of cell lining the mucus membrane of bladder once the new cells are formed .

As regards taking antibiotic wait for culture report and take decision about antibiotic as per culture report .

Kindly note the urine culture report has come and is as follows:

Specimen- urine.
Leukocytes: positive
Nitrate: negative
Culture result: no growth in culture after 48 hrs of aerobic incubation

We request you to interpret the above and advise

Thanks for follow up nd highlighting culture report which reveals there is no active infection .

Presence of 5-7 pus cell (Leukocytes )and Epithelial cells suggest inflammation of bladder mucosa which can be managed with urinary antiseptic like Nitrofurantoin twice daily along with urine alkalizer Citralka .

There is nothing to be worried about .
