Posted on Wed, 7 Oct 2015
Question: My 12 year old daughter had a urinary test that showed 30+ RBC, all uniform in appearance; no casts; some phosphate crystals. It also showed protein +abnormal and blood ++abnormal and a high sg. Is this cause for concern? She has never had a test that was abnormal, but she has had 2 urine test now with the same results.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX and welcome to HCM.
As an Urologist, let me convey that blood in urine is certainly abnormal.
We do need to know the source and cause of the bleeding.

2. Was urine culture test done. If yes, kindly send report.

4. Has she noted reddish or pinkish discoloration of urine anytime.
5.Did she have fever, when the test was done.
6. After check-up by doctor, did she receive any antibiotics or other medication.
If yes, kindly send a copy of that.
7. At what time interval, were the two urine tests done.
8. Did she complain of burning sensation, while passing urine.
9. Does she go frequently to pass urine, and does she need to rush to the toilet.

She has not started her periods yet. I have attached the culture test along with two other urine test. This was found on accident the initial urine sample was looking for something having to do with her pituitary and/or thyroid. She is having a 24 hour urine test today, when I dumped her first sample it was a little brown. She has not run any fever, UTI and Stones have been ruled out. The test were done 1 week apart. She goes to the bathroom often, but rarely has much output. There is no burning, and she has never had a uti.
Thank you!
she did have high blood pressure when she was in for the last test.

Brief Answer:
Get some more tests done.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again.
Good to know the urine culture was normal.
If B.P. was recorded on higher side, she should get it checked daily once.
Once 24 hour urine protein test is done, she must get blood routine, urea, creatinine, urine for micro-albumin, and maintain a intake of fluids and urine passed record.
Does she get swelling over the face or feet.
You should inform the doctor there.
According to the reports, the doctor will be able to give you proper treatment.
Wish her well.
