When Someone Passes Away In Hospital And They Do Not
Question: when someone passes away in hospital and they do not know for sure why to they do tests (blood or other tests) or do they just guess.
IF GIVEN AN AUTOPSY AFTER WOULD THEY TEST THEN OR WOUL;D THEY AGAIN JUST GUESS AND SAY DIED FROM NATURAL CAUSES WHEN YOU KNOW FOR SURE IT WAS NOT NATURAL CAUSES.
IF I REQUESTED THE AUTOPSY AND TOLD THEM I WANTED HER BLOOD TESTEDFOR DRUGS AND A TEST OF HER LUNGS FOR COVID OR ANY OTHER THING THAT WOULD CAUSE HER TO STOP BREATHING.
I AM SURE IT WAS OVERDOSE OF FENTANYL (OVER 2000mcgs) ALONG WITH ATIVAN OLANZAPINE AND HYDROMORPHONE GABAPENTIN.

Brief Answer:
Autopsy can confirm the cause of death

I have gone through your question, I understand your concern.
Cause of death can be identified if proper clinical history and blood and other investigations are available.
But sometimes when investigations are not enough to identify the cause of death or in case of any doubt, autopsy can always confirm the cause of death.
If you think that drug overdose is the cause of death, then it can be easily identified in autopsy report.
If autopsy and visceral examination says, no drug overdose, that means no drug overdose.
I hope your query is clear now.
