I am a 53 yr old woman taking the a drug premarin and have noticed extreme hair loss (my hair has always been very thick and now my pony tail is reduced by 50%, which I consider excessive hair loss) and I have excessive belly fat (I have always had a flat tummy even after the birth of my 2 children). I have always been slim and fit. I went on premarin 2 1/2 years ago and am taking 0.625 mg before bed due to extreme night sweats and in the morning I take 0.3 mg in the morning so I don t get hot flashes during the day. The sweating was the only reason that I decided to take the premarin. My family doctor does do blood tests to check hormone levels but I m concerned that the unless he sees an excessive sway in my hormone amounts he is telling me I just have to live with not being what I consider was always my normal. Also since starting the premarin my eyesight has gotten worse I feel full or bloated or pressure in the stomach, heartburn, runny nose, body aches and pains. Should I be seeking the advice of a specialist to be more specific with the control of my menopause medication and maybe seek better advice on my hormone imbalance? As a young woman, I was always borderline hyperglycemic. I have been tested for my thyroid and the test came back on the low end of normal.
