Can Plavix Be Taken Along With Protonix?
I have been on Plavix since my 5 bypass heart surgery in Jan 2004, along with 81 mg aspirin but recently I was also put on Protonix for a suspected reflux condition which I understand may create adverse interactions and I wonder what anti platelet med you might suggest in lieu of Plavix if in fact this is true.

i can understand your concern. proton pump inhibitors like omeprazole and pantoprazole(protonix) reduce efficacy of plavix. this is less with pantoprazole hence your doctor has prescribed this.
none the less if your symptoms of acid reflux are not severe i would suggest you to shift to rantac(ranitidine)150mg in place of protonix.this doesnt have any interaction as well as it is equally efficacious.
donot stop aspirin and plavix as they are to prevent plaques and future heart attacks.
