Can Valsartan, Diovan And Lopressor Be Taken Together?

My 88 yr old mothers in a rehab now recovering from 3 broken bones from a fall in Dec.
Prior to this, she's been extremely lethargic, depressed, unstable, and generally not feeling well. Now she has extreme swelling of her ankles in the rehab and, she is not a heavy woman. She has been a high blood pressure patient for years. Now that I am getting familiar with her prescriptions I know why she's been having all these symptoms. She's on Valsartan 160mg., Diovan 25mg. and Lopressor 100mg. This is a cocktail for disaster. I am not pleased with her internist. Must get her safely off these drugs and switch to some that have less side effects like perhaps Lasix? Your thoughts?
