Can A Spider Bite Cause Pain And Swelling In The Foot?

Yesterday I was bitten by I thought a yellow jacket bee, but my ankle and foot at the site has swollen moderatly and is still swollen and painful . I then thought perhaps it could have been a spider, Black Widows are common here in the upstate of SC. What are your thoughts ?

Hi,

You are having a moderate amount of swelling. It is due to inflammation from insect bite.

You can be prescribed a topical steroid cream and oral antihistaminic drugs like Benadryl or Chlorpheniramine. Anti-inflammatory medication like Brufen if needed can be prescribed additionally. You can apply ice over affected area.

You can post a photo of your bitten site to comment further.
