Can An On-going Cough Be Indicative Of Flu?

I saw my physician on Monday because of a on-going cough. He prescribed a cough med……in the meantime (tonight) I have developed extremely swollen glands, low grade fever, and aches all over. Does this sound like the flu or should I visit the clinic tomorrow? Nodules protruding from glands on both sides under ears.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Flu or upper respiratory tract infection must be ruled out. Consult a general practitioner and start a short course of antibiotics empirically.

If symptoms persist better to go for an X-ray and sputum study. Tuberculosis must be ruled out if cough persists for more than two weeks.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
