Can Chronic Dry Eye Syndrome Lead To Swollen Eyelids?
Can Chronic Dry Eye Syndome cause swollen eyelids? One is much worse than the other? I experienced a flash of lightening a month ago, when closing my eyes (I thought I would be blind), and have had swollen eyelids since then. All I was told from physicians that it might possibly be related to migraines, although that had never happened before; in 40 years or so.
First of all, it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.
Based on the history you have shared, headache with eye symptoms can be related to a migraine but more prominently to cluster headaches. Also, swollen eyelid needs to be reviewed by an ophthalmologist for any possibility of local inflammation.
Also, some renal diseases and thyroid illnesses can cause such symptoms. Dry eyes if prolonged may cause local irritation or dryness leading to infection which can cause such symptoms.
All possibilities needs work up but with careful ophthalmologist review.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin,
