Could MRI Of The Head Miss AV Malformation In The Back Of The Head?

48 y/o man, 6 feet, 200 pounds, officer, south US, former smoker (10 cigarettes a day for 30 years until Jan. 2007), weekend beer drinker

Current sy:

NUMBNESS (constant, fluctuating in intensity over several hours) and occasional THROBBING PAIN in the back of the head (even, from the base to the top), also numbness on both sides of the jaw. Moderate BRAIN FOG, POOR APPETITE and MODERATE CONSTIPATION. Symptoms aggravated by lack of sleep, but not by exercise.

History:

In 2001 was taking Prevacid for GERD.

After one night in Dec 2007 when he drunk several beers, waking with poor appetatite and tiredness, but not hangover. In the evening: strong chest pain (came out was GERD, no heart disorder) and out-of-the-space feeling (not dizziness).

In later days/months: SEVERE FATIGUE, NON-REFRESHING SLEEP, POOR APPETITE but GAINING WEIGHT (over 25 pounds in a year), FEELING COLD, blurred vision, slight problems with balance. No fever or flu-like symptoms, no enlarged nodes. Fatigue went away.

Positive test results (during all this time):

1. High Ebstein-Barr antibodies (EBNA and CGA), but only IgG, not IgM.

2. Low vitamin D 10 (norm=30-60), temporarily corrects after supplements, goes down again

Normal results:

- MRI of the head and neck, nerve conduction tests (made by ORL), lumbar puncture, colonoscopy, thyroxine, cortisol. Only "a slight narrowing of intervertebral foramina, probably congenital".

Question:

Could MRI of the head and neck miss siryngomyelia, vertebral/basilar artery dissection or AV malformation in the back of the head? Anything else (physical) what could cause mentioned combination of symptoms (numbness+ throbbing pain + brain fog + poor appetite).
