Could Light, Brief Regular Period Be Result Of Breast Surgery?

Hi, I had recently had surgery to remove two benign breast papillomas. Following this my period was ten days late and exceptionally heavy, bright red, with large clots. Prior to this I have only had a very light, brief regular period. I am 42. Is this a result of surgery and stress or should I see a doctor? Thank you.
