Could The Torn Discs Be Related To Alcohol Addiction?

i have a sciatic issue(2 torn discs confirmed by mri)..long story short, i am going to see a doctor about surgery this coming week, i have done steroid shot and lyrica, for like 7 months now i have had this issue and pass 3 months the shot/lyrica thru another doc and he has referred me to one i am going to this week...i recently stopped drinking alcohol (2 weeks approx, and just wanted to stop, i am a functioning drinker, it dont affect nothing but me physically, i dont miss work or hungover etc..) and have noticed quite a decline in my sciatic acting up, slowly but surely (always the mornings i had problem for like hr on the average), i drink fairly heavy at night before bed daily (3 -5 mixed drinks, for past year and half)...i know alcohol has not caused my sciatic, but could it be it has really made it bad/pain etc and caused of alot of problems with it to the point of it seeming to go away since i have stopped (been no pain basically for 4 days now and i had it basically everyday for past 7 months) or is this just a coiwindance and no merit? thanks confused in maryland
