Could There Be Regrowth Of Nail After Being Sliced?

a while ago, i had cut open a box halfway with a box cutter, and went to pull apart the rest of the box with my hand. the box then perceeded to snap shut on me, butting open my finger and slicing my nail. my nail is still barely connected, will it grow out if i let it be, or should i cut it off?
