Dent On Head After Stitch On Head And Eyebrow Due To Head Injury. X-ray Showed Normal. Will Dent Go Away?
Hi doctor, I had an accident about 4 weeks ago today. I suffered a head injury from a fall. I have stitched in my head and on my eyebrow. I was sent to emergency and had X-rays done and they said everything looked good. I notice a dent in my head where the stitches are and was wondering if it will go away. Last week I had another X-ray performed and the doctor said it looked good. Will the dent go away?
Form your query, I suppose that you had a cut laceration on your eyebrow and got it stitched by your doctor under aseptic precautions. The eyebrow region wound may take some time to heal. During healing, there is formation of healing granulation tissue and revascularization of the cut edges of the wound. By stitching, both cut ends of the wound are brought close to each other.
There will be regeneration of small cut vessels under the wound and tissue repair occurs on the surface. Any cut wound will not get back to completely normal in appearance though it might have healed well from inside. A scar mark may persist.
You may seek consultation from a plastic surgeon if you feel that the scar mark is causing a problem to your appearance.
The dent I suppose is the scar which you have written about. X ray shows if there is any damage to the skull and if any foreign body is present within the wound.
Hope this helps.
