Do Osteoarthritis And Degenerative Disc Disease Worsen After Childbirth?
I was diagnosed with Osteoarthritus and Degenerative Disc Disease, 2 weeks after that i found out i was pregnant. After i delivered my daughter in July my back pain had been so bad i feel immobile sometimes. I told my Doctor i think i needed a new MRI but he didnt send me for one. Could my pregnancy have made my condition worse? Do i need a new MRI?
Post pregnancyback pain is common phenomenon due to edema. Pain can be managed conservatively with physiotherapy with USG and TENS and back exercises. If there is persistent pain after physiotherapy then local injection may be required If symptoms persist then you may need MRI.
Medication like methylcobalamine and analgesic will reduce pain.
Some exercises which can be done include- Spine extension exercises, Lying on your stomach flat lift leg 6 inches from ground, do it for other leg. Now lift both hand and leg simultaneously, 6 inch off the ground and stay Position for around 10 breathes. Core stabilizing spine exercises will help.
