Does Propofol Cause Pain And Numbness Behind The Head?

I had a cataract removed on Tuesday. I went yesterday for my post op apt. I told them I was having a really bad headache in the back of my head My whole head still feels numb I do suffer from migraines, at times, but this does not feel like my typical migraine. I have also developed a rash at the base of my neck. Could this be a delayed reaction to the Propofol.

Hello,

Propofol does not cause such side effect. It may be due to something else and may be due to anaesthetic gases.

As of now drink plenty of water and you can take analgesics like acetaminophen for pain relief.

I symptoms persist, better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
