Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

There is no clear agreement to predict safe discontinuation of medications. Yes, relapses do occur in some patients if not all. Few patients do show history of seizures, abnormal EEG & have to continue with medication. Some do recover. Epilepsy patients need follow-up treatments, never get totally disconnected with your treating doctor. The medications have to be monitored, else it may result in the worsening of symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
