Experiencing Pain Mostly In The Lower Limb & Foot

i am very concerned about a problem i have been struggling with for the past four years, at times (random), i get this pain mostly in the lower limb (exactly the leg and the foot) (currently), sometimes in the upper limb (exactly the arm and the fore arm), this pain is quite unusual since it comes on for no apparent reasons (although after long walks the pain increases, but usually i find that exercise dont (immediately) trigger it), sometimes i would not be very physically active for weeks and the pain would come sometime again it would come on after long walks etc. I tried to think of things i have eaten (to see if something in particular triggers it off) but it still seems very random. The pain is kind of wide-spread for eg. majority of times recently the full length of the foot pains, feels like the pain is deep bt still in the anterior compartment like the tibialis anterior or jus below it.... when this pain comes on movement is restricted since movement (esp. dorsiflexion) intensifies the pain to an unbearable extent. It sometimes comes on on 1 foot and the next day the other foot while the pain from the 1st foot leaves (sometimes it stays). sometimes it affects the entire lower limb anterior and posterior compartment of it, but recently (within the last 2 years) the anterior compartment of the foot is mostly affected. I visited a doctor like about 3 years ago but he said that it was shin splint or growth spurt or something like that and that it would go away for itself....but it never stopped for good..it happens less times than before but it still happens...

some info on myself - 20 years old, used to be very active (played alot of football basket ball table tennis etc.) like 3 to 4 years ago, currently studing in university is not physically active at all... (most exercise i get is walking to and fro classes) and thats about it... sorry about the lengthly piece but i wanted to give you as much information as possible to make things easier. thanks very much for your assistance.
