Have Pain In The Kneecap Due To A Fall

Good evening. I fell off the stairs one month ago and landed on my kneecap. After a month it still annoys me, especially when kneeling, sitting/bending or when i sleep (as the only way I can sleep is face down). What should I do? I hadn t it checked a I could walk without problems (though it seems to get worse now).

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
HI,
First of all pls take an x ray to rule out patellar fracture which if not united may give pain.
If no bony pain, then it may be due to ligament injury (commonly ACL ) which causes instability with pain .In this case a proper clinical examination by an orthopaedician needs to be done and if clinically convinced, then an MRI SCAN may be needed.
I find this answer helpful
