Hello, I have severe HIV anxiety although I do not engage in high risk activities.
I've had multiple 10 day RNA tests and 4th Generation Tests for what I assume could have been potential HIV exposure but they've always come back negative.
I started taking PrEP and about 4/5 days after starting PrEP the following incident happened.
I work security and I was searching a females bag, I confiscated a pintail comb, I pricked my fingers with the end of the metal part of the comb. No blood, and minor damage to skin (literally looked like it had taken the first layer of skin off)
Normally I would have a 10 day RNA test post this event, but as I started taking PrEP I have read conducting information that it would be as accurate as normal.
I stopped taking PrEP a few days after the incident, because I didn't want to blunt a possible positive result. I took PrEP for about a week in total.
Could you please put my mind at ease somehow, and if I wanted to get tested again, how long would I have to wait since I stopped taking PrEP? I worked out this calculation and I am unsure if it is accurate.
After stopping PrEP, wait a week for Truvada to leave my system, then a following 10 days and have an RNA test? Would that work?
Many thanks and I hope that all makes sense
