How Can Charcot Marie Tooth Disease Be Treated?

I have Charcot Marie Tooth Disease and have been prescribed Escitslopram oxalate. I have heard some drugs can be bad for someone with CMT. I had a knee replacement 7/3/17 and my patella tendon was severed so I had a cadaver tendon graft on 10/3/17 I am still recovering and am now out of cast. Anxiety level very high so I was prescribed this RX, I am afraid side effects or possible toxic effects because of my CMT. Thank you, Joann G.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Sorry to hear of your sufferings, unfortunately there is nor treatment for CMT disease, however treating anxiety is Ok, there is no risk of disease being worsened or increased by the escitalopram, so you can take it if otherwise no problem.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
