How Can A Painful Wrist Injury With Fingers Swelling Be Treated?

I fell about 10 days ago while running. I hit my outstretched wrist, face and knee pretty bad. The knee and face are healing okay, but I still can't put any weight on my wrist. I can type, and move the wrist in all sorts of directions, but I can't put any weight on it (getting out of tub, yoga etc.) It's quite painful if I put any weight on it. Did not have a lot of swelling when I injured it; but fingers are a little swollen. I am 55 and my height is 5'3 and my weight is 130. Puzzled. Should I have the wrist xrayed or just wait it out?
