Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have gone into afib for the third time. I have had two TEE s and have used Multaq, amiodarone, and am currently taking Sotalol 120 mg. up from 80 mg twice a day. Is it time to consider ablation. I have an appointment with My Cardiologist today, and wanted to know questions I should ask.
Atrial fibrillation can be treated by cardioversion with drugs.
This form of cardioversion uses medications called anti-arrhythmic to help restore normal sinus rhythm.Depending on your heart condition, your doctor may recommend trying intravenous or oral medications to return your heart to normal rhythm.
This is often done in the hospital with continuous monitoring of your heart rate. If your heart rhythm returns to normal, your doctor often will prescribe the same anti-arrhythmic medication or a similar one to try to prevent more spells of atrial fibrillation.
Hope I have answered your query.
