How Can Bowel Incontinence While Going Through Chemotherapy Be Treated?
My husband has incurable cancer of omentum unknown primary and has done 1 cycle of Gemzar & Cisplatin and almost finished with the second cycle which he not tolerating well. He can t eat and has lost 20 lbs in 2 months. He cannot leave the house except to go to the doctor for more lab or more chemo. He cannot control his bowels and he vomits everything he eats and wants to quit the treatments. Can you offer some advice. He says if this is what chemo is going to do to him it is not how he wants to live. He is 77 years old and only other health problem is type 2 diabetic.

As per my clinical knowledge, the condition is of advanced stage and not curable. So far as palliative treatment is concerned , multiple parameters are being taken into consideration from patient as well as consultant point of view. In my opinion, if he is not tolerating the side effects of the chemo and condition is worsening, there is no meaning of putting him in extra agony of remaining life span ; you should discuss this thoroughly with your onco specialist.
