Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have recently been told I have folliculitis in my vaginal area. I cut myself pretty bad shaving like two weeks ago. I ignored it and assumed it would just go away. My boyfriend and I continued to have sex after I cut myself before it completely healed. Tuesday I went to a emergency clinic for doscomfort and pain in the area. I also noticed some sores there. They told me I had a UTI and that the sores were folliculitis. They ve busted and I m curious if they could spread if they have busted because they re in a moist environment?? I ve read several things about folliculitis and I know it commonly gets confused with herpes, but these are not clusters.. just small red bumps sometimes with yellow or white heads. There s one that almost looks like a blister where I cut myself the deepest. They re very tender to touch and they are very uncomfortable. Please help, or maybe give me a way to heal them!
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. In my opinion, you should follow these steps for better symptomatic relief and faster healing. 1. Drink plenty of fluids orally and keep yourself hydrated. 2. Avoid moisture and perspiration in private parts. 3. Keep proper hygiene of private parts. 4. Wear only cotton undergarments. Avoid sex and masturbation for few days. 5. Apply betadine powder on sore areas near vagina. Don't worry, you will be alright with all these in 1-2 weeks. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
