How Can Hypertension Be Treated?

Hello. I have high Blood pressure and am on 2 antihypertensive medications. My blood pressure is controlled but I d like to stop at least one of the medications. I am not overweight and I try to eat a healthy diet . I was thinking of trying Tumeric to see if it would help.

Hi and welcome to HCM..
I thank you for posting your query here and I'm here to help you out..

I being a doctor, we encounter so many such cases..
I read your question completely and completely and have understood it well enough..

I'm really sorry, you have to take 2 medications to control your blood pressure..
And have a bad news for you. Which you may not like, but I'm giving my frank opinions..

1. Your blood pressure is normal now only because of the two drugs that you are taking.

2. Don't even think of stopping drug on your own..
It may cause detrimental effect.

3. And there's no proved publication, to say turmeric is useful for high BP.
So suggest you not to go by those things. Never.

4. You keeping a check on weight is a superb thing, I congratulate you on that..
But please, don't stop a drug.

I know I may be sounding harsh or rude but I want you to live Healthy.
One thing you can do is..
A. Start yoga or exercise regularly, keep calm, no worrying and after few months say 3 to 6 months go check your blood pressure.
If it's normal, then consult a physician if you can stop. If he says ok, only then go ahead.

But again, I suggest you to continue those medications..

Hope this helps you, in case you need any further information please let me know..
God bless, take care.
