How Can Impetigo On The Nose Be Treated?

Hello. My 2 year old son has aggressive looking impetigo on his nose and around his mouth. I am taking him to the doctors in the morning but in the meantime I googled what creamed could be used and it says Clotrimazole could be given and as he has some of this I rubbed a little bit over the infected area, however I think it stang so went to wipe it of but my 2 year old got there first with his hands and then put his hands in his mouth. He was ok but just seems unsettled and wingy. He feel asleep fine but keeps crying out for a few seconds here and there. I only used two pea sized blobs of cream. Would this cause harm from wiping it with his fingers to his mouth? I have tried researching but no luck.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As a first line management, you can apply topical antibiotics like mupirocin for symptomatic relief. Generally, the symptoms will settle in a couple of days.

If symptoms persist better to consult a dermatologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
