Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 16 year old son has been getting migraines for about 5months now and they are mainly on the top of his head, they are coming closer together and more painful as time goes on, his doctor wants to monitor them to see what might be the cause, thought that it might be sinus migraines, is that correct?
Hello and Welcome to Ask A Doctor. I have read your query and here is my advice. Initially migraineheadaches are on one side and throbbing, pounding, or pulsating. The headache usually becomes constant and generalized. The headache can be followed by sleep or awaken the adolescent from sleep. A family history of migraine is present in about 70% of the patients. There are numerous precipitating factors which include: -excessive noise -confusion -illness -pizza, cheese, chocolate, citrus fruits, hot dogs, lunch meats -extreme exertion -loss of sleep -stress -bright light -cold food
A sinus headache causes a person to have a feeling of fullness or ache behind or above the eyes. It may be accompanied by nausea and vomiting. Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions, I will be happy to help. Arnold Zedd, MD FAAP
