How Can Swelling In The Ankles Be Reduced?

After traveling for 13 hours, flying and driving for 6 hours, my ankles are very swollen. I have had long days of traveling before; however, this swelling has not happened previously. Other than elevating my feet above my heart what would you suggest to reduce the swelling. It is now 24 hours after the traveling. Thank you.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It is quite common after prolonged immobilization.

You can apply compressive stockings during flight.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
