How Long Will Elbow And Shoulder Soreness Last After Injury?

I fell off my bike and landed on my right arm pretty bad, at first, after the fall I lost almost all strength in the arm, I could barely move it. But the strength slowly came back in an hour or so. Now, a week later, it's still very sore between my elbow and shoulder. Is it normal for soreness to last that long?
