How Should Hip And Shoulder Pain, Joint Tenderness, Finger Numbness Be Treated?

I was bucked off a horse a week ago. I landed on my shoulder and hip. There was no swelling or bruising, but it hurt. Now it is still hurting, can't lift my arm more than straight out in front of my. It is tender around the joint, but not on top of my shoulder. Also having numbness in little finger. I saw my Dr on monday, and felt around the top of my shoulder, which didn't hurt, and looked at my ROM. He gave me skelaxin and some gel to put on my shoulder. He didn't order any x rays or MRI, instead he is having my do E-stem therapy on my shoulder. Is it normally to not get xrays and MRI?
