Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 41 year old female. I went to see my OBGYN today for a routine exam but I have been experiencing pain. During the exam, she noticed redness and irritation at what I believed she called right at the "apex." Not sure what that is. I did give a urine sample and she did say I have a UTI. She however was hesitant to say that the pain and area that is red and irritated and also only on my right side was due to the UTI. I have never had a UTI in the past but I have had a sister and mother who experienced them occasionally, and my symptoms were pretty different that how they described theirs. I do experience pain when I urinate and wipe. Also, even walking I feel discomfort. I should mention I have been dealing with this off and on for awhile and probably should have seen my OBGYN sooner. I am being treated for the UTI and am waiting for results of a culture that she did during my visit. Do you have opinions on what this pain and red swelling could be from? I feel pretty confident that it isnt related to the UTI. Any other information you could give would be greatly appreciated.
