Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a pneumothorax in my left lung it is my second one. First one was caused after a car accident I believe 2 years ago. I had surgery to fix it a year ago when i woke up there were two chet tubes placed in my left side of my chest . Everything was fine for a while and about 7 months later i started to experience the same symptoms as before my surgery and found out my lung was collasping again . The Doctor scheduled me for a second surgery this time was going to be exploratory because there seem to be a hole in my lung that he missed the first time and he was unsure where it was. However he was very nervous because it could cause more problems to open me up again. Two days before the surgery my life began to re-inflate so the doctor decided to cancel the surgery it was too risky. they told me that I would have to learn to live with the hole in my lung until the it would be to hard to live through or until surgery was rhe the only option. Until then I'm not allowed to go into an elevator more than four floors High I can't run too fast I can't skydive I'm also pretty sensitive around chemicals like bleach cleaning stuff paint if in a room with no windows or doors I begin to have breathing problems . You know what's so funny besides that my pneumothorax is on which is my left usually stay swollen my bus hand side my stomach where my ribs are and underneath my breast my top back and middle of my back where my ribs are located usually are pretty swollen. and when my lung deflates I experience breathing problems and pain and when my Lund in place I experience breathing problems and pain I believe this may only happen once every 6 months however but from what I can tell thats usually how often it happens.
