Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is A Nail Prick In The Forearm A Cause For Concern?
Yes. My brother was injured by a nail in his forearm. He cleaned and treated it but there is a tiny noticeable ring around the wound. At this point there is no swelling or pain and he said he is just going to keep an eye on it. The nail was fairly small and it was like a pin prick with a little bleeding.
In my opinion, it is better to get a tetanus shot within 24 hours of the nail prick. It will help the wound to heal faster. Neglect may lead to complications like muscle contraction(spasms / stiffness), lock jaw, etc.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
