Is Biopsy Of A Thyroid Nodule Advisable Before Its Surgical Removal?
for the past 5 0r 6 years I have been seeing an endocronoligist as my calcium is high my level is 11 Each yr he just watches the calcium level and asks if I want my parathroid removed as the right one is highly inflamed Last week after my usual ultrasound the doctors nurse called and said I had a nodule on my left throid . I still swallow well have trouble keeping my throat clear and have wheezing and shortness of breath said he would send me to surgeon for consultation but if I opted no surgery he would just take biopsy of left throid lobe. Now would it not be reasonable for me to request a biopsy before I commit to surgery. further if I have to go under knife to remove nodule would it be best to go ahead and remove parathroid

Is Biopsy Of A Thyroid Nodule Advisable Before Its Surgical Removal?
Hi, Yes, biopsy is required before surgery to know about its nature, benign or cancerous, depth of nodule. So kindly go for biopsy. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
