Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here... Hi my mother is suffering from cold and cough since 14 days.little bit blood is comming through the cough.she had a coronary bypass 1 year back.dr prescribed zocef and montek for this infection.my question is whether this combination work.is there any side effect.
Hello One year back your mother had bypass surgery and now for cough and cold prescribed ZOCEF i.e cefuroxime and montek i.e. montelukast . Zocef is an antibiotic and effective against many bacteria like influenza , surgical prophylaxis. Montelukast is an antihistamine and act as an anti-allergic agent. These both drugs can be given concomitantly without any side effect or any drug interaction with each other . Your mother is also having blood with cough , this is a cause of concern . In my opinion consult a physician ( 2nd opinion ) and get his opinion as your mother is an operated case of heart. Good luck.
