Hi, Last July while being treated for CHF in an ER in Boise, ID I acquired a rash. At first they thought it was scabies; which they treated me for with a liquid that was put all over my body. Eight hours later they washed the liquid off and stated, I did not have scabies. Three days later, my CHF was cured and I was sent home with a cortisone cream for the rash. The rash got worse with the use of cortisone and Neosporin and so in the beginning of August I saw a dermatologist. He laughed at me and said, You actually gave the rash to youtself through scratching. However I hadn t been scratching very much. He had prescribed a strong steroid ointment, it did nothing but eat my skin off. My family physician did some scrapings, one for the precense of infection the other a culture to determine the specific nature of the rash and he gave me a prescription for Bactrim DS. The prescription started to improve my skin condition. Four days later I returned for the test results; and the family doctor said there was no infection and the culture was inconclusive. In a few weeks returned to the same Dr. and as he noted I was on Adderall for severe depression, he sent me to my psychiatrist as he thought the rash was medication related. My psychiatrist didn t think this was accurate; that if any medication was related, it was the Opana I was on due to my recent back surgery. So I went to another Dermatologist, he said I had dilusional parasitosis and my psychiatrist should put me on an anti-psychotic. The last thing I want to be on is an anti-psychotic and from my own research believe I have all the symptoms of chiggars. What is the treatment for chiggars?
