Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Endometrial Ablation Effective In Managing Heavy Bleeding?
I have been diagnosed with Uterine fibroids I have been taking a new prescription Microgestin 1/20 continously since approximately end of March/first of April. I had no menstrual cycle until approximately June 11 when I began spotting and over the course of the last several weeks having occasional periods of approximately 3 days worth of heavy bleeding until last Thursday when I bled heavily for approximately an hour like a faucet had been turned on and some significant passing of blood clots since I have started spotting again. Is there a specific timeframe you would recommend that I wait to determine if the pills are working and finally eliminate the bleeding or try a different treatment? I would also like to know if an endometrial ablation might be a treatment to consider given the medication may not be treating the heavy bleeding that I was having due to the discovery of the fibroids. Thank you
If you are diagnosed with fibroid & the medicines prescribed are not working, you may have to get myomectomy done.
Get clinically assessed by a gynae. Myomectomy is effective but they may re-grow. Avoid stress & anxiety. Maintaining a low BMI is helpful to get the uterine fibroid shrink naturally.
Treatment for endometriosis is surgery if the patient has already tried medicines or hormone therapy. Endometrial ablation is effective, you can go for it. Avoid high fatty food, dairy products, red meat, oily spicy food, etc.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
